Baseball Recap: Halifax Wins Going Away Against Newport

Halifax won the last time they faced Newport and things went their way on Friday too. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Buffaloes with a sharp 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Will Steinhauer was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Tobias, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Halifax always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newport only posted an OBP of .304.

The victory made it two in a row for Halifax and bumps their season record up to 13-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Newport, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5.

Looking ahead, Halifax will challenge Line Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Newport, they will welcome Susquenita at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
