Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Catholic Celtics vs. Lake Howell Silverhawks

The Trinity Catholic Celtics will face off against the Lake Howell Silverhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Trinity Catholic will face Lake Howell after dropping another heartbreaker against Providence School on Friday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within 3.1 of beating them. Trinity Catholic took a 62-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Providence School. While losing is never fun, the Celtics can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Stallions are ranked tenth).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ja'Niya Corbin, who posted 20 points. Corbin is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Brionie Leahmon was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven assists.

Meanwhile, Lake Howell put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Winter Springs to the tune of 56-29. The Silverhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 27 points or more this season.

Lake Howell's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Trinity Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Trinity Catholic didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Lake Howell in their previous matchup back in December of 2016, but they still walked away with a 33-28 win. Will Trinity Catholic repeat their success, or does Lake Howell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
