The Uintah Utes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They took a hard 55-36 fall against Green Canyon. While losing is never fun, Uintah can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Green Canyon is ranked 27th).
When it comes to explaining why Uintah lost, one person who can't be blamed is Charlee Gilroy. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points along with six rebounds. Gilroy continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Zoey Glenn, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Green Canyon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tori Jeppson, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Marissa Best was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with nine rebounds.
Uintah bumped their record down to 2-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Green Canyon, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
Uintah will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Union at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. Union is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. Green Canyon will be home for the holidays to greet Fremont at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fremont is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
