Basketball Recap: Piedmont Classical Comes Up Short

Piedmont Classical lost against Carver back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Piedmont Classical Bobcats fell 52-44 to the Carver Yellowjackets. The Bobcats' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Despite the loss, Piedmont Classical saw an underclassman step up: sophomore London Gray went 6 of 12 en route to 17 points along with five boards and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gray has scored all season. Bryson Motley was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Carver's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kejuan Bruton, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Bruton has become a key player for Carver: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight boards, but 5-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiquan March, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Piedmont Classical's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Carver, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-8.

Piedmont Classical has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Triad Math and Science Academy on the 7th. As for Carver, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-64 victory against Leadership Academy on the 7th.
