Kouts never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Griffith on Saturday. They blew past the Panthers 11-2. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs & Fillies, who have now won 17 games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Eli Harper was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three RBI and one run. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jesse Overholt was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Estill, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Kouts kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Griffith only managed two hits.
Kouts pushed their record up to 21-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Griffith, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.
Coming up, Kouts will be playing in front of their home fans against New Prairie at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Mustangs & Fillies surely won't give up without a fight. As for Griffith, they will challenge Hammond Bishop Noll at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
