Mountain Valley is 2-7 against Spruce Mountain since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Falcons will challenge the Phoenix at 11:00 a.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Spruce Mountain will be up against a hot Mountain Valley team: the squad just extended their winning streak to six. The Falcons never let Mount Abram get on the board and left with a 22-0 win on Wednesday. That 22 run margin sets a new team best for the Falcons this season.

Addison Libby looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Layce Boucher was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Emily Putnam also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Mountain Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .743. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Spruce Mountain made easy work of Winthrop on Friday and carried off a 9-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Phoenix, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.
Rylee Turner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Turner was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Tyoaka Hodgkin was incredible, going 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Chloe Ames, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Mountain Valley pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.7 runs over those games. As for Spruce Mountain, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Spruce Mountain's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mountain Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .406. It's a different story for Spruce Mountain, though, as they've only averaged .248. Will they be able to contain Mountain Valley's hitters?
Mountain Valley suffered a grim 18-6 defeat to Spruce Mountain when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
