Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is River Valley's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

River Valley took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against ALA - West Foothills, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. River Valley had just enough and edged out ALA - West Foothills 12-10. This was payback for the Dust Devils, who suffered a 10-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Kaelynne Niswonger, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Tamarie Williams was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

River Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .690. They are undefeated (7-0) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

River Valley is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. With the defeat, ALA - West Foothills broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-5.

Coming up, River Valley will square off against Yuma Catholic at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Yuma Catholic will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something River Valley surely won't give up without a fight. As for ALA - West Foothills, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Florence at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
