Fordham Prep scored the most  points they've had  this season on Sunday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a  hair shy of victory  and fell  27-26 to the St. John the Baptist Cougars. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in October of 2024.
 St. John the Baptist's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Maurice Scott, who threw for 194 yards and two  touchdowns on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 52 yards and one  TD. That's the most  passing yards  Scott has posted since back in August. 112 of  Scott's passing yards were hauled in by Kevin Peters, who also brought in a  receiving touchdown.
Fordham Prep has  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record  this season. As for St. John the Baptist, the  victory was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-3.
 Fordham Prep and St. John the Baptist could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage  in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Rams (ranked 139th) will meet St. Anthony's (ranked fourth)  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Meanwhile,  St. John the Baptist will  square off against  St. Peter's  at 12:30  p.m.  on Saturday with a big rank  disadvantage  (134 vs. 44).
