Pearsall hasn't had much luck against Pleasanton recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mavericks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Pearsall has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Pearsall is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Monday. They came up short against Carrizo Springs, falling 14-7.
Pearsall saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Vela, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Vela launched this season.
Meanwhile, Pleasanton came tearing into Monday's game with 15 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 6-0 shutout. Considering the Eagles have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Somerset's batters probably weren't too happy with Cade Segura, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (he gave up a single walk). Segura has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Erik Coronado was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).
Pleasanton pushed their record up to 22-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Pearsall, their loss dropped their record down to 2-19.
Pearsall might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Pleasanton when the teams last played back in March. Will the Mavericks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
