Springfield is 2-8 against Cloverleaf since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Springfield Spartans will look to defend their home court against the Cloverleaf Colts at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Wednesday, Springfield had to suffer through a rough 62-27 loss at the hands of Streetsboro. While losing is never fun, Springfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 548th, while Streetsboro is ranked 135th).
Meanwhile, Cloverleaf struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (Field had 25 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Cloverleaf fell to Field 49-44.
Despite the defeat, Cloverleaf saw an underclassman step up: Evie Barth scored 22 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barth has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Seiwerth, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Springfield's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Cloverleaf, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
Springfield beat Cloverleaf 46-36 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Will Springfield repeat their success, or does Cloverleaf have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
