Basketball Recap: Mountain View Comes Up Short

Mountain View lost against Massaponax back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mountain View Wildcats came up short against the Massaponax Panthers, falling 71-48. The contest marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Mountain View saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Noble Solomon went 7 for 12 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Solomon has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Gordon, who posted four points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Mountain View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Massaponax was led to victory by Alonzo Bowler and Collin Bowles. Bowler went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points and seven rebounds, while Bowles went 6 of 13 on his way to 15 points and five assists. That's the most assists Bowles has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Myers, who put up 11 points.

Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Massaponax, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Mountain View didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-55 loss against Riverbend on the 17th. As for Massaponax, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 51-46 victory against Courtland on the 13th.
