Payson has gone 8-2 against Uintah recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Payson Lions will host the Uintah Utes at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Payson's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Uintah has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
Payson is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest victory since December 18, 2024 on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 63-43 margin over Mountain View. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Bruins are ranked 63rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Legend Reynoso, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 17 points and six boards. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Waylon Francom, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.
Payson was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain View only racked up ten assists.
Meanwhile, Uintah had just enough and edged Timpanogos out 65-63 on Tuesday. The win almost wasn't to be: the Utes were down 34-19 in the second quarter.
Uintah's win came from a few key players Payson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dauson Gardiner, who went 6 of 8 en route to 19 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Gideon Owen, who earned 14 points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Uintah's victory bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Payson, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Payson hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 63.9 points per game. However, it's not like Uintah struggles in that department as they've been averaging 60.4 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Payson came up short against Uintah in their previous matchup back in January, falling 66-60. Will Payson have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
