East Laurens is 4-0 against Treutlen since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The East Laurens Falcons will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Treutlen Vikings at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
East Laurens has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 30 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped last Tuesday as they easily beat Wheeler County 61-19 at home. The win was familiar territory for East Laurens who now have three in a row.
East Laurens relied on the efforts of Jayla Givens, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, and McKayela Tanner, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Tanner has scored at least 25% of East Laurens' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deanna Lowther, who scored six points along with 17 rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, everything went Treutlen's way against Hancock Central on Friday as Treutlen made off with a 66-44 victory. The victory was just what Treutlen needed coming off of a 78-53 defeat in their prior game.
East Laurens is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Treutlen, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3.
Everything came up roses for East Laurens against Treutlen when the teams last played on December 9th as the squad secured a 69-30 victory. Does East Laurens have another victory up their sleeve, or will Treutlen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
