Folsom and Rocklin are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will host the Thunder at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Folsom will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
On Monday, Folsom came up short against Laguna Creek and fell 12-7.
Shay Sacay and Faith Best did some serious damage despite the final result: Sacay went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Best went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Green, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Last Friday fans watched as two of the best teams in the nation hit the field. Rocklin took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Del Oro. The Thunder's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Payton Prior spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Katie Wetteland was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. Maddie Williams also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Folsom's loss dropped their record down to 9-7-2. As for Rocklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-3.
Folsom's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Bulldogs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Rocklin, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Folsom continue to outrun the ball?
