Softball Recap: Danvers Extends Winning Streak to Four

Danvers entered their tilt with Salem on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Witches with a sharp 18-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Skylar Coakley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kyla Moroney was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs and two doubles. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi McCarty, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Danvers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Danvers' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Salem, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Danvers will welcome Winthrop at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Salem, they will be playing at home against Lynn Vo-Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
