The Hillcrest Jaguars entered their tilt with the Straughn Tigers with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Hillcrest walked away with a 57-44 victory over Straughn on Thursday. Given Hillcrest's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Straughn is ranked 272nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Robert Simpson, who scored six points.
Hillcrest pushed their record up to 15-3 with that win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Straughn, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.
Hillcrest will head out on the road to face off against Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Straughn, they will be playing at home against Pleasant Home at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pleasant Home has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.
