The Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines struggled with threes on Thursday (the Central City Bison had six more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The game between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Wilber-Clatonia falling 57-43.
When it comes to explaining why Wilber-Clatonia lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cooper Palmer. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Kuhlmann, who scored 12 points.
It was another big night for Jakob Ruhl, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds for Central City. Ayden Zikmund was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six assists.
Wilber-Clatonia has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Central City, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Wilber-Clatonia will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Bruning-Davenport/Shickley at 4:15 p.m. on December 29th. Bruning-Davenport/Shickley is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Central City will finish 2023 at home by hosting Fairbury at 7:45 p.m. on December 29th. Hopefully Fairbury focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
