Even though the New Palestine Dragons scored an imposing 66 points on Friday, the Newport Wildcats still came out on top. Newport managed a 72-66 win over New Palestine. The win made it back-to-back wins for Newport.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Newport to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jabari Covington, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Tay Kinney, who scored 16 points.
Despite the loss, New Palestine still got an impressive performance from Julius Gizzi, who scored 35 points along with eight rebounds. Gizzi scored a full 53% of New Palestine's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Moses Haynes, who scored 11 points along with eight assists.
Newport's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for New Palestine, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
