The San Ysidro Cougars lost against the Mar Vista Mariners back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. San Ysidro fell 21-14 to Mar Vista. Despite 72 more yards than Mar Vista, San Ysidro couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Despite the loss, San Ysidro still got an impressive performance from Dario Garcia, who rushed for 214 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.9 yards per carry.
Even if they lost, San Ysidro's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Leading the way was Jaiden Dominguez and his 2.5 sacks.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mar Vista to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ciontae Fewell, who picked up 98 receiving yards and a touchdown.
This is the second loss in a row for San Ysidro and nudges their season record down to 1-8. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 3-6 Mar Vista and 4-5 Castle Park. As for Mar Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
San Ysidro does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mar Vista is also done with their season.
