Make it nine blowout wins for the Porter Ridge Pirates this season. They put the hurt on Cuthbertson with a sharp 61-36 victory on Wednesday. The win was nothing new for Porter Ridge as they're now sitting on three straight.
Porter Ridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Miley Malcolm out in front who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Ashanti Taylor was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists and four steals.
Despite the loss, Cuthbertson saw an underclassman step up: Christian Johnson scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amayah Rogers, who scored eight points.
Porter Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Cuthbertson, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Porter Ridge will square off against Sun Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sun Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while Porter Ridge is ranked 48th). Cuthbertson's road trip will continue as they head out to face Ardrey Kell at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Ardrey Kell will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
