The Stone Tomcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 23 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Southern Choctaw with a sharp 60-37 victory on Thursday.
Stone got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was JaKobey Johnson out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Ray Dennis was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with four steals.
Stone's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Southern Choctaw, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-1.
Stone won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Greene County at 3:30 p.m. on December 15th. Greene County is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Southern Choctaw will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fruitdale at 6:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
