Dougherty Valley is 1-9 against Livermore since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wildcats will take on the Cowboys at 4:00 p.m. Dougherty Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Dougherty Valley after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Carondelet by a score of 5-4. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Katie Osborn was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Osborn was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Ava Millert made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Laura Osborn, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, while Livermore put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Monte Vista. The Cowboys were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Mustangs. The Cowboys not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10th (when they won 10-0).
Kaci Norton tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April.
On the hitting side, Laine Macosky was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Kerigan Coates, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Livermore kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive matchups.
Dougherty Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Livermore, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-8.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dougherty Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Livermore struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dougherty Valley came up short against Livermore in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
