Basketball Recap: Angel Ortiz's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Forest Hill over Santaluces

Forest Hill lost a heartbreaker to Santaluces when they met back in December of 2022, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. The Forest Hill Falcons fell 51-41 to the Santaluces Chiefs. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 57-54 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Forest Hill's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Angel Ortiz, who posted 19 points and three steals. That's the most steals Ortiz has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tim Grice, who had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Trent Nixon was the offensive standout of the game as he earned 20 points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Fabensky Pierrelouis, who put up five points and seven rebounds.

Forest Hill's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Santaluces, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Forest Hill will face off against Leonard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Forest Hill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season. As for Santaluces, they will host Inlet Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Inlet Grove will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Santaluces surely won't give up without a fight.
