Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeland). They walked away with  a   10-6  win over the Mountain View Eagles  on Monday. With that  victory, the Chiefs brought their scoring average up to 6.5  runs per game.
 John Paul Malak was a major factor no matter where he played. He  struck out six batters over  five innings while giving up just one earned run off   four  hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 2-for-5. Those  runs marked the first that  he  scored this season.

 In other batting news,  Kody Miller was  incredible,  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances with three  runs and one  triple. Those  three  runs gave  him a new career-high.  Gavin Zellers also deserves some recognition as  he  got his first  hit of the season.
 Lakeland  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 12  hits. That's the most  hits they've managed all season.
The  win made it two in a row for Lakeland and  bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Mountain View,  they are  on  a  four-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
 Lakeland and Mountain View will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Lakeland will  challenge  rival Holy Cross  at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Mountain View is set to  square off against  their familiar foe Susquehanna  at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday.
