The South Sioux City Cardinals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Elkhorn Antlers on Monday. Elkhorn took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on South Sioux City, who comes in off a win.
South Sioux City scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Gross Catholic with a sharp 71-51 victory. The victory was just what South Sioux City needed coming off of a 67-42 loss in their prior match.
South Sioux City can attribute much of their success to Bailee Durant, who scored 22 points, and Brooklyn Heineman, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Durant has scored all season. Izabella Moret was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Elkhorn's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a serious blow against Skutt Catholic, falling 66-38. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Elkhorn in their matchups with Skutt Catholic: they've now lost five in a row.
South Sioux City is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for Elkhorn, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6.
South Sioux City barely slipped by Elkhorn in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 54-53. Does South Sioux City have another victory up their sleeve, or will Elkhorn turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
