Basketball Recap: Dayton Ross' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Harding University over West Charlotte

Harding University was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. The game between them and the West Charlotte Lions didn't end well, with the Harding University Rams falling 75-57. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Harding University lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dayton Ross, who went 5 of 11 en route to 18 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Decker, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 boards.

Even though they lost, Harding University smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

West Charlotte got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Amen(AC) Pressley out in front who went 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points along with six boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Coleman, who posted ten points and three steals.

Harding University's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for West Charlotte, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harding University will take on North Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Harding University is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.7 points per game this season. As for West Charlotte, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the West Charlotte Lions duke it out with the Chambers Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chambers knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully West Charlotte likes a good challenge.
