Sunnyside gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They blew past the Gila Ridge Hawks 75-44. The Blue Devils not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since November 21, 2024 (when they won 80-43).
Sunnyside had a senior duo take command as Carlos Cardenas posted 13 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals and Nathan Schofield shot 71% from the field on his way to 22 points. Another player making a difference was Julio Martinez, who earned five points along with five assists and four steals.
Coming up, Sunnyside will take on Canyon del Oro at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Gila Ridge, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 69-66 defeat against Casa Grande on the 21st.
