After flying high against Mountlake Terrace last Friday, Shorewood came back down to earth. The Stormrays fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Stormrays' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Shorewood got a good showing from Aaron James, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, James gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Shorewood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Finn Liekkio, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Shorewood's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Mountlake Terrace, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-8.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Shorewood will take on rival Meadowdale at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Mountlake Terrace is set to challenge their familiar foe Stanwood at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for the Hawks: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while the Spartans have snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
