The Lewis Cass Kings scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They secured a 56-52 W over Southwood. The win was some much needed relief for Lewis Cass as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
It was another big night for L.j. Hillis, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and three steals. He also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Rudd, who scored ten points.
Southwood lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Maddox Marshall, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Bryce Wilcox, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Lewis Cass' victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8. As for Southwood, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lewis Cass won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Taylor at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Taylor is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Southwood, they will be playing at home against Whitko at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Whitko focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Saturday.
