Hutchinson-Central Tech hasn't had much luck against City Honors recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Engineers will venture away from home to face off against the Centaurs at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Hutchinson-Central Tech got the win against Olmsted by a conclusive 10-2. Considering the Engineers have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Hank Kinney made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joe Platt, who went 1-for-3 with five stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Michael Guercio Jr was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
City Honors came out on top against International Prep at Grover on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Centaurs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Presidents a 5-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Centaurs in their matchups with the Presidents: they've now won four in a row.
Chase Longman looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Pavel Schneiderman was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
Hutchinson-Central Tech's record is now 9-3-2. As for City Honors, their record now sits at 7-4.
Everything went Hutchinson-Central Tech's way against City Honors in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as Hutchinson-Central Tech made off with a 15-2 victory. Will the Engineers repeat their success, or do the Centaurs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
