The Northfield Norsemen are taking a road trip to square off against the Maconaquah Braves at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Northfield has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 25.
On Friday, Northfield came up short against North Miami and fell 10-5.
Northfield saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Myers, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Maconaquah came into Saturday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Blackford with a sharp 14-4 win on Saturday. The Braves not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8th (when they won 18-8).
Blayklee Buman made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shaela Brazzel, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Eleanor Boshears was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Maconaquah was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Northfield's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Maconaquah, their record now sits at 4-13.
Northfield might still be hurting after the 27-1 defeat they got from Maconaquah when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Norsemen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
