Avon has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The Rocky Hill Terriers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Rocky Hill took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Avon, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Avon beat Farmington 20-14.
Avon relied on the efforts of Nikolai Meltser, who rushed for 161 yards and a touchdown, and John Murphy, who rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Rocky Hill, who are still winless after their seventh game. Their tough 31-6 defeat to Edwin O. Smith last Thursday might stick with them for a while. Rocky Hill was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Avon's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Rocky Hill, their loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Avon has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 264.8 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Rocky Hill, though, as they've been averaging only 59.5 per game. How will Rocky Hill fare against such a dominant running game?
Avon took their victory against Rocky Hill in their previous meeting back in November of 2021 by a conclusive 46-21. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Rocky Hill's Tyreice Dominique, who rushed for 190 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Avon to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
