St. Anthony's Roderick Ashford rumbled for the longest rushing play in Santa Fe this season in his game against Salesian last week. Ashford ran for 55 yards on the play and finished with 64 on the day as his team fell to the Mustangs.
Salesian added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating St. Anthony, 64-37. The victory was the fifth in a row for N/A's team.
Mario Morales' team's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jaylen Watson threw for 189 and 3 touchdowns and Kevin Jackson had 146 yards receiving. On the ground Ashford contributed 64 yards. Jamos Fuamatu helped St. Anthony's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 32 yards.
He went 15-23 with 0 interceptions.
Ashford was the best running back in the league this week. Fuamatu also contributed to the rushing game with 46 yards on the ground.
St. Anthony's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Saints feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jake Hooper has thrown for 1,555 yards and 19 touchdowns this season, while Jackson has 40 catches for 784 yards.
At the moment, the Mustangs are in second, while Bellarmine-Jefferson is in fifth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Salesian takes on the Guards. The Mustangs have allowed 176 points this season, while Bellarmine-Jefferson has given up 110. Salesian allowed 37 points last week as it defeated the Saints.
St. Genevieve moved up to 559 from 610 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Santa Fe. The Valiants climbed the ranks as a result of beating St. Monica 55-16.
