The Starkville Academy Volunteers were the 59-47 winner over the Lamar Raiders when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Starkville Academy took a hard 50-31 fall against Lamar on Thursday. Starkville Academy has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Lamar found their leader in underclassman Jackson Whitcomb, who scored 17 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals. Salone Elliott was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 5 assists.
Starkville Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Lamar, their win bumped their record up to 2-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Starkville Academy will take on Pillow Academy at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Lamar won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Brookhaven Academy at 7:15 p.m. on December 1st.
