The Yuma Catholic Shamrocks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 29 points or more this season. They took their contest at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 39-7 victory over Odyssey Institute. The squad ran away with 30 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.
Amanda Wiley was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Yuma Catholic's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Estes, who scored nine points along with six steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Odyssey Institute struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Yuma Catholic racked up ten assists.
Yuma Catholic's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Odyssey Institute, they bumped their record down to 4-11 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yuma Catholic will face off against Parker at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Odyssey Institute will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Tonopah Valley at 5:30 p.m. on January 4th. Tonopah Valley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
