Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Columbia River, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Woodland 9-3 on Monday. Considering the Rapids have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Ruby Lew made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Lew was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Zaya Ehlers-Bakacs and Ava Pratoussy did most of the damage at the plate: Ehlers-Bakacs went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Pratoussy went 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Those four RBI gave Ehlers-Bakacs a new career-high. Solei Houk was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
Columbia River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodland only posted a batting average of .160.
Columbia River pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for R.A. Long, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
