Chambers and Mallard Creek are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2014, but not for long. The Chambers Cougars will be playing at home against the Mallard Creek Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Chambers faced West Charlotte in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Chambers took down West Charlotte 30-14. Winning may never get old, but Chambers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Chambers' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tre Robinson led the charge by throwing for 136 yards and three touchdowns. Robinson hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for four straight games. Jeremiah Harrison was another key contributor, picking up 62 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Mallard Creek put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on West Mecklenburg with a sharp 33-7 win. The victory was just what Mallard Creek needed coming off of a 30-6 loss in their prior contest.
Chambers' win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Mallard Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Chambers strolled past Mallard Creek in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a score of 27-13. Does Chambers have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mallard Creek turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
