Edgewood has enjoyed a six-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Harrison Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Edgewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday.
Last Monday, Edgewood had to suffer through a rough 64-37 loss at the hands of Kings. While losing is never fun, Edgewood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while Kings is ranked 50th).
Edgewood might have lost, but man, Rylie Homan was a machine: she scored 17 points along with four steals. Homan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Swartzel, who scored eight points.
Edgewood struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Harrison entered their tilt with Hamilton with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Harrison narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Hamilton 53-50.
Harrison's win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alli Robertson, who scored 18 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Robertson has scored at least a third of Harrison's points. Another player making a difference was Abby Smith, who scored 14 points.
Edgewood's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Harrison, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
Edgewood strolled past Harrison in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 63-47. Does Edgewood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Harrison turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
