Dan River is 9-0 against Chatham since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Dan River Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Chatham Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (Dan River is ranked 250th, while Chatham is ranked 249th).
Even though Nelson County scored an imposing 46 points on Friday, Dan River still came out on top. Dan River walked away with a 54-46 victory over Nelson County.
Dan River's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stanford Lipscomb, who threw for 166 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Lipscomb was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Another player making a difference was Trevon Brooks, who picked up 123 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Dan River's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Maleik Chappell and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Chatham was the victim of a rough 51-26 defeat at the hands of Appomattox County on Friday.
Dan River's win bumped their season record to 3-4 while Chatham's defeat dropped theirs to 5-2.
Dan River was able to grind out a solid victory over Chatham when the teams last played back in October of 2022, winning 21-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dan River since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
