Elkins is on a 12-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Harding Academy is on a ten-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Elkins Elks will take on the Harding Academy Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Elkins had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Central Arkansas Christian 53-15 on the road. With Elkins ahead 39-9 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
It was another big night for Da' Shawn Chairs, who rushed for 250 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Chairs was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 57 yards. Dizzy Dean was another key contributor, rushing for 135 yards on only 12 carries.
Meanwhile, Harding Academy has more to be thankful for after their game against Ashdown on Friday. Harding Academy breezed by Ashdown on the road to the tune of 42-14. Harding Academy's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Their wins bumped Elkins to 13-0 and Central Arkansas Christian to 10-3.
