The Wellborn Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They managed a 62-57 victory over Jacksonville Christian Academy. The victory was just what Wellborn needed coming off of a 81-32 loss in their prior match.
When it comes to explaining why Jacksonville Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jesse Gannaway. Despite the final result, he scored 38 points along with four steals. Gannaway scored a full 66.7% of Jacksonville Christian Academy's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Noah Lee, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Wellborn's win bumped their record up to 3-11. As for Jacksonville Christian Academy, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-11.
Wellborn will play host again and welcome Munford, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jacksonville Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Spring Garden at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Spring Garden presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Jacksonville Christian Academy in Alabama (Spring Garden is ranked 154th, while Jacksonville Christian Academy is ranked 458th).
