It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They managed a 40-36 victory over Shelton. The win was nothing new for Wilcox-Hildreth as they're now sitting on three straight.
Madison Bunger continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Wilcox-Hildreth's points. Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Lieb, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Wilcox-Hildreth now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Shelton, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2.
Wilcox-Hildreth will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Harvard at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Harvard comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Shelton and Sandhills/Thedford will round out the year against one another at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at. Sandhills/Thedford's defense has only allowed 29.6 points per game this season, so Shelton's offense will have their work cut out for Shelton.
