They took a 55-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Indianapolis Arsenal Technical. While losing is never fun, Evansville Reitz can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while Indianapolis Arsenal Technical is ranked 72nd).
Despite the defeat, Evansville Reitz saw an underclassman step up: Jaylan Mitchell dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. Mitchell scored a full 56.8% of Evansville Reitz's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Evansville North didn't have too much trouble with Gibson Southern at home on Friday as they won 55-37.
This is the second loss in a row for Evansville Reitz and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Evansville North, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Evansville Reitz didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Evansville North when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 63-58 victory.
