Northern has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Conemaugh Township Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Northern is ranked 117th in Maryland, while Conemaugh Township is ranked 128th in Pennsylvania).
Last Thursday, Northern ended up a good deal behind Petersburg and lost 62-46.
Meanwhile, Conemaugh Township entered their tilt with Portage with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Conemaugh Township walked away with a 71-60 win over Portage on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Conemaugh Township can attribute much of their success to Jon Updyke, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 16 rebounds, and Colin Dinyar, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and ten rebounds. The game was Updyke's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Matera, who scored eight points.
Northern's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Conemaugh Township, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
