Kelvin Taylor exploded for 437 yards and five touchdowns during a 35-29 playoff victory over Jupiter Christian (Jupiter, Fla.).

Logan Silver passed for 347 yards (20 of 26) and eight touchdowns while also running for 241 yards (24 carries) and one touchdown as Marist (Eugene, Ore.) routed Crescent Valley (Corvallis, Ore.), 60-22, in a Class 5A semifinal playoff game.
Taylor Walcott had eight catches for 133 yards and five touchdowns.

T.J. Lally made a Class 6A state title-game record 18 tackles as Marmion Academy (Aurora, Ill.) lost to undefeated Boylan (Rockford, Ill.), 48-19.
* Show Low (Ariz.) ended defending champion Blue Ridge's 25-game winning streak with a 20-17 victory to claim the Class 3A state championship. Senior quarterback
Rathen Ricedorff threw for 225 yards and improved his state record to 55 touchdown passes this year.

Quentin Williams threw two touchdown passes as Jefferson (Tampa, Fla.) defeated Pasco (Dade City, Fla.), 41-14, in a Class 3A playoff game. He now holds the state record with 102 career scoring passes.

DeMarco Robinson has set a state record with 1,655 receiving yards this year. The record of 1,647 was set in 2009 by Da'Rick Rogers of Calhoun.

Barry Sanders has been sidelined for the remainder of the state playoffs due to a nagging foot injury, which already had cost him five games.

Jonathan DiBiaso passed for 403 yards and six touchdowns as Everett (Mass.) routed Cambridge (Mass.), 43-0.

Lexington (Mass.) head football coach Bill Tighe retired following a 14-0 victory over Burlington (Mass.). A head coach since 1957, Tighe is 86 years young.

Zac Cardwell (6-1, 190) of Lowell (Ore.) scored an 8-man football state-record 115 touchdowns during his career. His total also surpasses the large-school state record (114). He also is a three-time Class 1A-2A state champion wrestler.
CROSS COUNTRY: GREAT RACE IN KENOSHAPerhaps the greatest cross country race in the nation this fall took place on Saturday during the Foot Locker Midwest Regional in Kenosha, Wis. Lukas Verzbicas of
Sandburg (Orland Park, Ill.) was clocked in an outstanding 14 minutes, 45 seconds, but Futsum Zeinasellassie of
North Central (Indianapolis) was only three seconds behind.
* Twin sisters Kathryn and Erica Fluehr of
Community (Naples, Fla.) placed 1-2 with respective times of 17:06 and 17:10 during the Foot Locker South Regional in Charlotte, N.C. They also were 1-2 in Florida's Class A state meet, but Erica won on that occasion.
* The biggest surprise may have come during the Foot Locker Northeast Regional in Long Island, N.Y., where unheralded senior Chad Noelle of
Greene (N.Y.) captured the boys title in 15:42. Last year at this time, Noelle was a soccer player.
BASKETBALL: SCOTT PICKS PURDUENorthrop (Fort Wayne, Ind.) sophomore
Bryson Scott has chosen Purdue University over Ohio State and Indiana, according to the Indianapolis Star. The 6-1 combo guard averaged 18 points and 4.8 rebounds as a freshman. His twin brother,
Brenton Scott, also is a high Division I prospect.
* Bellaire (Texas) senior
Sheldon McClellan poured in 56 points during an 88-74 victory over Washington (Houston).
* Kayla Biles scored 40 points as
Upperman (Baxter, Tenn.) defeated Tennessee (Bristol, Tenn.), 72-61.
* Stan Benge posted his 500th career coaching victory as
Ben Davis (Indianapolis) defeated Hobart (Ind.), 57-32, for its 62nd consecutive victory.
POTPOURRI* Junior Cody Proveaux of Leesville, S.C. defeated senior Michael Kim of Del Mar, Calif., 4 and 3, to win the boys division of the Polo Golf Junior Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Junior Jaye Marie Green of Boca Raton, Fla. captured the girls title with a 2 and 1 triumph over sophomore Karen Chung of Livingston, N.J.
* The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has crowned 23-0
St. Ignatius (Cleveland) as national boys team champion and 20-0-1
Eden Prairie (Minn.) as national girls champion.

Edina (Minn.) hockey star Steven Fogarty has chosen the University of Notre Dame over Dartmouth, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The senior forward led last year's Class 2A state champions with 21 goals and 19 assists.
