They walked away with a 44-35 victory over St. Mary on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for Durham Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Among those leading the charge was Rashyia "Shy" Williams, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sasha Bilsborrow, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
St. Mary's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Emmy Johnson, who scored nine points. Mary Marshall Rankin was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Durham Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season. As for St. Mary's, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Durham Academy will take on North Raleigh Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Mary's, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Thomas More Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. Thomas More Academy's defense has only allowed 26.7 points per game this season, so St. Mary's offense will have their work cut out for them.
