Softball Recap: Berwick Wins Going Away Against St. James

Berwick won the last time they faced St. James and things went their way on Tuesday too. Berwick blew past St. James 17-6. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by eight runs or more this season.

Shelby Taylor was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs, five RBI, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryanne Davis, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Berwick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. James only posted an OBP of .346.

Berwick has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. St. James dropped their record down to 4-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Berwick will take on Teurlings Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Teurlings Catholic has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.05 runs per game on average), something Berwick will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for St. James, a feisty cat fight will be fought as St. James Wildcats challenge Covenant Christian Academy Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
