The Jordan-Elbridge Eagles fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Marcellus Mustangs on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to the Mustangs. Jordan-Elbridge has struggled against Marcellus recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Jordan-Elbridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Abbie Ahern. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Hildebrant, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Jordan-Elbridge's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Marcellus, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jordan-Elbridge will take on Port Byron at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marcellus, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hannibal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
