The Jerome Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Burley Bobcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Jerome knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Burley likes a good challenge.
Jerome couldn't beat Wood River on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Tigers fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 11-10. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Wolverines recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Sawyer Gararad made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Peyton Thompson was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Burley waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 18-8 win. Considering the Bobcats have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Adalynn Olmos made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Olmos was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and four runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three).
In other batting news, Burley let Katelyn Hege and Aaliyah Olmos run wild. Hege went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Olmos got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Olmos has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Messina, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Burley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Burley's record now sits at 10-8. As for Jerome, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
Jerome couldn't quite get it done against Burley in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
