Basketball Game Preview: The Pilgrim Academy Pioneers vs. Gloucester County Christian Conquerors

The Pilgrim Academy hasn't had much luck against Gloucester County Christian recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Pilgrim Academy Pioneers will be playing at home against the Gloucester County Christian Conquerors at 5:00 p.m.

The Pilgrim Academy is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since February 15, 2024 on Friday. They were dealt a 66-31 defeat at the hands of Pleasantville. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, The Pilgrim Academy had strong showings from Addison Brittin, who posted nine points and five steals, and Isabella Cosme, who scored six points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Cosme a new career-high in boards.

Even though they lost, The Pilgrim Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Gloucester County Christian won against King's Christian last Thursday with 35 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Gloucester County Christian took down The Pilgrim Academy 35-17. The win was familiar territory for the Conquerors who have now won three contests in a row.

Gloucester County Christian has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.8 points per game. As for The Pilgrim Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

The Pilgrim Academy lost to Gloucester County Christian at home by a decisive 35-17 margin when the teams last played on Thursday. Can The Pilgrim Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
